+ Description

MT-2 (or Melanotan II) is another synthetic peptide of hormones nature and lactam cyclic analog of melanocortin protein hormone alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone; its molecular weight/mass is 1024.2 with molecular formula is C50H69N15O9. This analog has typical features of proteins. MT-2 is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, white lyophilized powder intended for subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, after reconstitution with sterile Water for Injection (0,3% m-Cresol).

+ Mechanism of action

MT-II contributes to satiety via a hypothalamic signal. MT-II also affects skin pigmentation as it is a melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH). MT-II binds to melanocortin receptors and affects the MC4R activity demonstrating an effect on meal size and choice but not meal frequency.

In a pilot study using human subjects, a significant change in skin pigmentation (darkening) occurred after just 5 injections of MT-II used every other day. This same study also noted that males that used MT-II experienced penile erections concomitantly with “stretching and yawning.” Between one and five hours after injection of MT-II. Another study found 8 of 10 men increase erectile rigidity to 38 minutes verses 3 minutes with placebo. The only noted side effects were mild nausea, decreased appetite, and “stretching and yawning.

Another potential benefit of MT-II is its affects on food choice, intake, and nutrient partitioning. Banno’s study surmised that food intake and body weight were decreased by chronic administration of MT-II. Insulin sensitivity as well as glucose tolerance was improved by MT-II. Serum triglyceride levels were also decreased by MT-II, and the affects persisted for at least 25 days. Thus one can conclude MT-II could be used to treat obesity, metabolic syndrome, and any co morbid disorders.

+ Instructions for reconstitution

The injection is given into the sub-cutaneous layer which includes adipose tissue (fat).

If you are using insulin syringes which have short needles, you will need to enter the skin at 90°. to the skin, otherwise you can inject as shown in the illustration above with a 29 or 30 gauge, 0.5" needle.

+ Dosage

Recommended dosage of MT-2: 0.25 - 1.5 mg once per day.

+ Storage

• This product can be used not more than 3 years from the production date (see box).
• After reconstitution, may be stored for maximum of 14 days in a refrigerator at 2°C – 8°C.
• Store vials in an upright position.
• Store in a refrigerator (2°C – 8°C). Keep in the outer carton in order to protect from light.
• For one month can be stored at room temperature.
